Windy Ride

Today I joined the KBC Monday night ride. We decided to do the recovery ride, a group ride that is advertised at 17-19 MPH. Since I am tapering for Trans Iowa, I thought this would be a good ride. When we had a tailwind, the ride was just what I needed, high cadence with a low heart rate. Once we turned into the 30 MPH winds, the group ride was splintered. I ended up riding the majority of the last 15 miles by myself, as I just didn't want to work hard enough to keep up with the group. After usually working hard on rides and not getting dropped, I had to remind myself that the race in 2 weeks was more important than the breakaway from the windy group ride.
