Monday (0 Miles). For the past few winters, I have used snowmobile grip covers to help keep my hands warm during the cold rides. The covers are not windproof and fit loosly around my forearms. After reviewing with my designer and seamstress, we picked up the needed supplies from a fabric store. Cheryl did great work on the prototype "Pug Paws".

Tuesday (5 Miles). Went for a quick ride to test out the paws. We needed to make a couple minor corrections, but they seemed to keep my hands nice and warm.

Wednesday (0 Miles). This rest time is killing me! Went shopping with Cheryl and Avery.

Friday (0 Miles). Met Cheryl and Avery at her parents' home in Marshall for dinner on my way back from Lansing. Food was great and just what I needed after a long work week.

Saturday (5 Miles). Mike and I decided this would be the first day of our Trans Iowa training, a 3 hour ride on the Kal Haven Trail. We layered our clothes, put our bikes in the van, then headed out into the morning with temperatures in the teens. The first 2 miles were very cold on my face and head. Just when I was starting to get warm, my tire went completely flat. Neither of us had a repair kit, so we turned around for the parking lot. We decided to wait until tomorrow to start the training. Grandma Kucharski drove down from Hudsonville to go to the craft show with Cheryl. After a couple hours, the guilt of not riding started to set in and I decided to run on the treadmill for an hour while Avery was napping. I am going to try to do more cross training this winter, so running and cross country skiing will most likely be my choices. Cheryl and Avery continued decorating the Christmas tree and Avery showed us a little booty shaking.

Sunday (30 Miles). Continued with the Christmas decorations and watched some football. I am very close to my goal of 8,000 miles for the year.
